How it works
The therapist performs the massage with hands, forearms, knees, legs and feet to press and stretch the body into a series of Yoga-like stretches. Throughout the massage the therapist repeatedly stimulates acupressure points along a series of energy lines called ‘Sen Lines’. This is to encourage the distribution of energy flow and to help balance or relieve blockages or stagnation to prevent the likelihood of succumbing to everyday illness and effects of modern day stress.
What does it involve?
The receiver is fully clothed except for shoes and socks. The Massage is performed on a mat on the floor, as a raised table is not as effective or practical to carry out the many procedures involved in a Traditional Thai Massage. This allows the therapist to perform the massage most effectively utilising natural body weight with total economy of motion, avoiding muscular force for the transmission of pressure, or energy to achieve a highly effective massage treatment.
How does it feel?
A Traditional Thai Massage is energising and very stimulating than other forms of classic massage due to its smoothness, rhythm and flow. The series of movements and levels of Yoga-like stretches are subtle to begin with and gradually increased to perform more elegant stretches for which Traditional Thai Massage is renowned. Almost all feel relaxed or rejuvenated, whereas others are very surprised at the level of stretching their body can achieve.
Three visits to Nick in 3 weeks and to my amazement not only did I make the start line but I ran the 26 miles, non-stop in under 4 hours, without any problems with my calf muscle..
