Traditional Thai Massage

(Nuad bo-rarn)

What is a Traditional Thai Massage
(Nuad bo-rarn)?

Traditional Thai Massage (Nuad bo-rarn) is a form of assisted yoga massage (but without the effort) to promote health and well-being.

Why choose a Traditional Thai Massage?

The movements in a Traditional Thai massage assists the restructuring of the musculoskeletal system and is very popular amongst athletes, dancers, Yoga practitioners and other people who would like their body to achieve maximum performance or state of sublime relaxation. When performed by a skilful professional even advanced Yoga may not compete with the stretching capabilities of a Traditional Thai Massage!

Benefits of Traditional Thai Massage

Three visits to Nick in 3 weeks and to my amazement not only did I make the start line but I ran the 26 miles, non-stop in under 4 hours, without any problems with my calf muscle..

I was looking for an experienced massage therapist and was recommended to see Nick due to his professionalism and clinical knowledge by a Stockport college therapy lecturer.

Nick used aromatherapy oils as a medium and explained the benefits of each essential oil for my ailments involving me throughout the decision process.

Following the treatment I felt like I had just worked out in a gym! I also felt totally re-energised Nick you unblocked everything I needed to empty my bladder afterwards!

Well well well I can honestly say that was the best massage I have ever had! Nick is a natural healer spread the word...

Thanks Nick

The main benefits of a traditional Thai Massage can help and assist with a variety of physical and emotional problems such as:-

  • Promotes mobility and flexibility of muscles and joints

  • Reduces muscular tension

  • Promotes heightened senses of alertness

  • Stimulates blood and lymph flow

  • Promotes relaxation and rejuvenation

  • Helps to reduce stress hormones

  • Stimulates healing of soft tissue injuries

How it works

The therapist performs the massage with hands, forearms, knees, legs and feet to press and stretch the body into a series of Yoga-like stretches. Throughout the massage the therapist repeatedly stimulates acupressure points along a series of energy lines called ‘Sen Lines’. This is to encourage the distribution of energy flow and to help balance or relieve blockages or stagnation to prevent the likelihood of succumbing to everyday illness and effects of modern day stress.

What does it involve?

The receiver is fully clothed except for shoes and socks. The Massage is performed on a mat on the floor, as a raised table is not as effective or practical to carry out the many procedures involved in a Traditional Thai Massage. This allows the therapist to perform the massage most effectively utilising natural body weight with total economy of motion, avoiding muscular force for the transmission of pressure, or energy to achieve a highly effective massage treatment.

How does it feel?

A Traditional Thai Massage is energising and very stimulating than other forms of classic massage due to its smoothness, rhythm and flow.  The series of movements and levels of Yoga-like stretches are subtle to begin with and gradually increased to perform more elegant stretches for which Traditional Thai Massage is renowned. Almost all feel relaxed or rejuvenated, whereas others are very surprised at the level of stretching their body can achieve.

His knowledge of anatomy was incredible. ...The pain I experienced disappeared almost instantly after I left the treatment room and has been a lot better since... Thanks Nick!
